From judges to stewards to course designers, officials are instrumental to equestrian sport; ensuring participants can enjoy a safe, fair and fun equestrian sport.

Steps to Accreditation and Status Advancement as an EC Official
- Identify the specific role and discipline you are passionate about, as requirements vary accordingly.
- Visit the Accreditation and Maintenance Requirements section below to find detailed pathways with criteria for your chosen role and discipline.
Log in to your MyEC account to access and submit the application on the Official Status tab. Please ensure to upload your equestrian resume.
- Participate in required courses, clinics, and apprenticeships relevant to your chosen official role and pathway.
- Apprenticeship and other evaluation forms and guidelines can be found below.
- Submit evaluation forms and any supporting documentation of completed application requirements to the EC Officials Program (officials@equestrian.ca)
- A listing of EC Officials’ clinics can be found on the Officials Clinics page of the EC website.
- Officials’ applications are reviewed annually each Fall by Equestrian Canada and discipline specific advisory groups, except for General and Hunter/Jumper Stewards whose applications are reviewed quarterly.
- Once approved and officials’ licence fees paid, applicants are listed with the new status in the EC officials’ directory and entitled to officiate with that function at EC sanctioned competitions.
Officials must comply with the maintenance requirements of their status as listed in the pathway documentation. This includes holding an EC Sport Licence, annual official’s fees, attending clinics, completing exams, officiating and other requirements as listed.
