The EC Equine Medication Control Program provides information and practical advice to EC members, trainers, owners and veterinarians regarding the rules and regulations pertaining to the use of drugs and medications for horses competing at all EC sanctioned competitions.
The rules for Equine Medication Control closely follow the equine drug and medication control regulations developed by the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency (CPMA) and can be found in the EC Rules Section A: General Regulations in the following chapters:
Please note: The rules of certain divisions/breed sports are more restrictive and in some cases allow no drugs or medications. See specific discipline/breed sport rules to verify.

* Person Responsible
In order to enter a horse in an EC sanctioned competition, you must designate a Person Responsible (PR). The PR must be an adult who has or shares responsibility for the care, training, custody and performance of the horse, and who has official responsibility for that horse under EC Rules. The PR is liable under penalty provisions of the applicable EC Rules for any rule violations. Every entry form for an EC sanctioned competition must identify the PR and be signed by the PR.
The Equine Medication Control Committee is the committee of Equestrian Canada responsible for leading the strategy on anti-doping and medication control at EC sanctioned competitions in Canada.
