Smiles came easily for Adele McCormick of Ottawa, ON, who piloted K&J’s Amber Choice (Dunhaven Royal Choice x Heartland Amber), Jeff and Joshua McCormick’s 15-year-old Hackney gelding known affectionately as “Houdini”, to win the Single Roadster Pony Junior Exhibitor class for the third consecutive year on Nov. 6.
On Nov. 8, Precious Cargo’s “precious cargo” was the red ribbon that the seven-year-old Hackney (Crystal Creek’s Commander x Best of Intentions) sported in the $5,000 Single Roadster Pony Canadian Championship, driven by John Brunton of Carleton Place, ON, who co-owns the mare with Karen Brunton.
Look at that high stepping action from Bent Tree Farm Ltd.’s six-year-old Hackney, Velvateen (Par Excellence x Mark of Success)! Karen Waldron of Shawsville, VA, knew just how to show off the mare’s best moves to clinch the win in the $5,000 Hackney Pony Canadian Championship Stake on Nov. 8.
Paul W. Richardson of Terra Cotta, ON, had a destination in mind at Nov. 9’s $5,000 Hackney Horse World Grand Championship Stake: he drove his seven-year-old Hackney gelding, MSF Gilmour (Brooklawn’s Ambassador x Raffles), straight into the winner’s circle!
Johanna McKeen of Newcastle, ON, and the seven-year-old Wesh Cob, Quillane Absolute (Gallod Auryn x Desert Moon Apollo), quite liked their red ribbon from the 2018 Welsh Championship Pleasure Driving Stake, so they decided to earn another one in 2019 on Nov. 9.
