EC’s key actions this week:
- Finalized a social media campaign that will launch on June 15, 2020, to increase pressure on government for immediate COVID-19 relief programs for those equine businesses that need it most.
- Shared EC’s report to the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food from June 5, 2020, which was presented in partnership with Cheval Québec. View the recording here (starts at approx. 14:06).
- Hosted the June 2020 EC National Equine Disease and Welfare Surveillance Call, which featured important information from Equine Guelph students on COVID-19 pandemic resources, including return to competition and equine facility biosecurity resources. The presentation can be found here.
- Continued to work on our return to competition needs and the development of materials to support competition organizers as provinces/territories reopen.
Additionally, EC would like to remind the community that as provinces/territories reopen, Learn to Ride programs and evaluations will be able to restart if permissible by regional and provincial health authorities. Please contact your Provincial/Territorial Sport Organization for information about program status in your area.
