Jessica Phoenix of Cannington, ON, and Freedom GS (Humble GS x Fidertanz), a 10-year-old Oldenburg mare, owned by Charlotte Schickedanz, finished on top of the podium in the CCI 3*-L at the Virginia Horse Trials in Lexington, Virginia, from Nov. 3-6, 2022. The pair opened the three-day event with a dressage score of 32.7, jumped clear on cross country with a 1.2 time penalty and finished with a clear round in show jumping, finishing with a total score of 33.9 over France’s Martin Douzant and Harthill Diamond (38.8).
Emilie Bussereau
Emilie Bussereau of Saint Nicolas, QC, and Fayrouz D’Ouilly (Quickly de Kreisker x Stenthor Morinda), a seven-year-old Selle Francais gelding, owned by Helen Courcel, earned the win in the CSI YH1* in Villers-Vicomte, France on Nov. 10. Finishing with a time of 55.29 and zero faults, the pair outlasted France’s Alix Ragot and Feline du Figuier (56.31).
A day later, the duo won the CSI YH1* 1.35m Finale, jumping double clear and a time of 30.28 over Bussereau’s second hose of the competition, D K’s Boy Z (31.26).
Jonathan Ding
On Oct. 30, Jonathan Ding of Thornhill, ON, and Sgt. Pepper (Perigueux x Lord Caletto), a 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding, owned by Inez Ding, took home the victory in the CSI 2* in Oliva, Spain. The pair would finished with a time of 64.53, while jumping clear over USA’s Zazou Hoffman and Moka Delle Schiave (65.03).
Jacqueline Steffens-Daly

On Nov. 12, Jacqueline Steffens-Daly of Harriston, ON, and Freaky earned a victory in the MLSJ CSI 5* Team Competition in Monterrey, La Silla Mexico. Riding the 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding (Darco x Litho X), she co-owns with Team Eye Candy, Steffens-Daly finished with one fault and a time of 62.13 and finished jumping clear and a time of 42.48 over Ireland’s Richie Moloney and Coco Beach (4/63.73, 0/45.82).
Carlie Fairty
Carlie Fairty of Markham, ON, and Carla du Morion (Ogrion des Champs*HN x Elan de la Cour*HN), a 10-year-old Selle Francais mare owned by Fairgreen Sod Farms, earned the win on Oct. 23 in the 150,000 MXN$ CSI 2* in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The pair jumped double clear and stopped the clock at 41.40 over Mexico’s Emiliano Gutierrez Padilla and Attraction Riverland (41.98).
Tiffany Foster
Tiffany Foster and Vienna (Valentino 240 x Lordanos), a nine-year-old Hanoverian mare owned by Artisan Farms LLC., won the CSI 3* on Oct. 19 in Tryon, North Carolina. The Langley, BC, native jumped double clear and registered times of 42.31 and 32.85 in two phases over Puerto Rico’s Freddie Vazquez and Kirschwasser SCF (44.34, 33.92).
Mathieu Michot
On Oct. 16, Mathieu Michot of Montreal, QC, and his own Caynen of the Lowlands Z, sired by Concord Z, earned a win in the CSI 2* Grand Prix in Royan, France. The pair jumped double clear and stopped the clock at 39.39, over France’s Felix Jarry and Danonzo (41.13).
Karl Slezak
From Oct. 9 – 12 in the CCI 3*-L Division at the Tryon International 3-day event, Karl Slezak of Tottenham, ON, and his own Hot Bobo, a nine-year-old Irish Sport Horse, won with a score of 31.8. Riding with a broken hand, Slezak overcame the odds, opening in the dressage phase with a score of 31.8, he would have an elapsed time of 8:15 in the cross-country and jump clear in show jumping to finish atop of the standings over USA’s Shannon Lilley and Clueso (33.3).
