On June 30, Jim Ifko of Calgary, AB, and Un Diamant des Forets (Diamant de Semilly x Papillon Rouge), a 14-year-old Selle Français stallion owned by Eventyre Farms Ltd, earned the win in the CSI 5* Friends of the Meadows Jumper – 1.50m at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, AB. The duo would finish with a time of 58.77 ahead of Australia’s Katie Laurie and Cera Caruso (61.56).
A week later on July 7, the pair would please the hometown crowd again earning the victory in the CSI 5* Jayman BUILT Cup – 1.50m. The pair would jump clear and finish with a speedy time of 66.37, ahead of Ireland’s Paul O’Shea and Hellcat (69.13).
Kelly Houtappels-Bruder
From June 15-19, 2022, Kelly Houtappels-Bruder of Ariss, ON, who resides in Steensel, NED, topped the CAI 3* Horse Single Division at the driving competition in the Bühl 2022 event. With her partner Flip (Fidertanz x Carprilli), a 13-year-old Oldenburg gelding, whom she co-owns with her husband Frank Houtappels, opened the competition with an exceptional score of 40.12 in the dressage phase. The pair would drop to 12th place with a time of 83.91 in the marathon stage and they would complete the event with six penalties in cones and final score of 130.03, to finish atop of the leaderboard.
Sam Walker
Sam Walker of Nobleton, ON, reached the winner’s circle three times this cycle, starting on June 16 in Calgary, AB, at Spruce Meadows in the CSI 2* Recon Metal Jumper – 1.40m. Walker and Hermelien VD Hooghoeve (Otangelo x Thunder van de Zuuthoeve), a 15-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare owned by Evergate Stables LLC, would jump clear and finish with a time of 67.43, narrowly beating Colombia’s John Perez Bohm and Voodoo 10 (0; 67.48).
Two days later in the CSI 2* AON Jumper 1.40m – Walker and Evita (Canturano x Farmer), a 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare owned by MarBill Hill Farm, would be the only duo to jump double clear to earn the winning ribbon.
On July 10, the pair would return to Spruce Meadows and win the CSI 5* Sun Life Derby – 1.50m, finishing with four faults and time of 152.51, ahead of fellow Canadian Vanessa Mannix and Kitting des Hausseurs (4; 156.41).
Emilie Bussereau
Emilie Bussereau of Saint-Nicolas, QC, and Fayrouz D’Ouilly (Quickly de Kreisker x Stenthor Morinda), a seven-year-old Selle Français gelding owned by Helene Courcel, earned the victory in the CSIYH 1* in Fontainebleau, FRA on July 2, 2022. The pair jumped double clear and stopped the clock at 47.61 over France’s Nicolas Cizeron and Filae Du Clos, who also jumped double clear and finished with 49.02 for second place.
Gerben Steenbeek
Gerben Steenbeek of St. Mary, ON, drove to victory in Bromont, QC, in the CAI 3*-H4 competition from June 24-26, 2022. Steenbeek opened the three-day event with a 58.77 in dressage, then 148.45 in marathon and closed out the competition with 16.00 in cones for a final score of 223.22.
Danielle Lambert
Dual citizen Danielle Lambert, who was born in Vancouver, BC, and Elfira des Salines (Kannan x Calvaro), an eight-year-old Selle Français mare owned by Criss Cross SAS, earned the win in the CSI 2* Open in Knokke, BEL on July 7, 2022. The Canadian pair would jump double clear and stop the clock at 49.21 and 26.66 over second place Alice Borglund and Nino of Sweden.

On July 1, Susan Horn of Bolton, ON, and Kirlo van den Bosrand (Cardento 933 x Utrillo VD Heffinck), a 12-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding owned by Kingsfield Farm, would earn the victory in the CSI 2* Friends of the Meadows Jumper – 1.40m at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, AB. The pair would jump double clear and finish with a time of 44.39, tying Mexico’s Luis Alejandro Plascencia O. and Jump Star SIH, who finished with the exact same score.
A week later on July 7, the Canadian pair would capture another win at Spruce Meadows in the CSI 2* Friends of the Meadows Cup – 1.45m, jumping double clear and a time of 43.46 over USA’s Virginia Bonnie and Efodea (4; 36.64).
Jacqueline Steffens
On Canada Day 2022, Jacqueline Steffens of Harriston, ON, earned her biggest win yet, capturing the CSI 5* Duncan Ross Cup – 1.55m at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, AB. In the saddles of Freaky (Darco x Litho X), a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare she co-owns with Team Eye Candy, jumped double clear and finished with 41.27, over 24 athlete-horse combinations and four in the jump-off, including fellow Canadian Mario Deslauriers and Emerson, who finished in second place (42.90).
Tara Dow-Rein
Tara Dow-Rein, originally from Toronto, ON, now living in Raleigh, NC, and Hokyra Fortuna (Zambesi TN x Canturano), a 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare owned by the Rein Family LLC., earned the victory in the CSI 1* in Knokke, BEL on June 30, 2022. Dow-Rein would stop the clock at 57.99, ahead of second place Axelle Rowies and Serieuse du Roulet (59.78) of Belgium.
Jordan Steenbeek
Jordan Steenbeek of Woodham, ON, earned the win in Bromont, QC, in the CAI 2* Pair Horse competition from June 24-26, 2022. Steenbeek opened the competition with a score of 61.07 in the dressage phase, then posted a score of 85.88 in the marathon. He then completed the three-day event with a 32.18 in cones and a final score of 179.13.
Cassidy Rein
Cassidy Rein, originally from Toronto, ON, now living in Raleigh, NC, and Escorial K (Chacco’s Son x Epsom Gesmeray), a 11-year-old Oldenburg mare owned by Jacqueline Felber, took home the winning ribbon in the CSI 1* in Paris, FRA on June 26, 2022. The duo would jump clear and stop the clock at 60.73 over France’s Caroline Baudry and Athina Larquey (62.20).
Anne Claire Breton
On June 26, Anne Claire Breton of Lévis, QC, earned the victory in the CSI 2* in Kronenberg, NED. In the saddles of Clarima 6 (Clarimo x Quintero), a 11-year-old Holsteiner mare owned by Hans-Jürgen Deuerer, Breton would jump double clear and a time of 31.54 over Netherland’s John Steeghs and Indigo (32.00).

On June 19, Eric Krawitt of Okotoks, AB, and Cactus de Cosniere (Padock du Plessis*HN x Flipper D’Elle*HN*), his own 10-year-old Selle Français gelding, raced around to a victory in the CSI 5* ATB Cup – 1.50m at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, AB. In front of a hometown crowd, Krawitt jumped double clear and stopped the clock at 41.53 over fellow Canadian Mario Deslauriers (44.12).
Nicole Walker
Nicole Walker of Aurora, ON, and Atout des Trambles (Nectar des Forets*HN x Apache D’Adriers), a 12-year-old Selle Français gelding owned by NW Stables LP, earned the winning ribbon on June 19 at Spruce Meadows in the CSI 2* Trimac Jumper – 1.30m. The pair would jump double clear and stop the clock at 43.45 over USA’s Hannah Selleck and Rumpleteazer DF (44.20).
Jonathon Millar
Jonathon Millar of Perth, ON, and Isotropic Shadow (Quintender 2 x Landclassic), an 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding owned by Isotropic Networks Inc., raced around the course to a victory in the CSI 2* 1.45m Grand Prix on June 19, 2022 in Lexington, Kentucky. The pair stopped the clock at 31.37, outlasting Ireland’s Richie Moloney’s and Huzaar (33.13).
Mario Deslauriers
Mario Deslaurier of Venise-en-Québec, QC, and Uris de la Roque (Capital x Quick Star), a 14-year-old Selle Français gelding, whom he co-owns with Aram Ampagoumian LLC, earned the winning ribbon on June 17, 2022 at Spruce Meadows in the CSI 5* ATCO Cup in Calgary, AB. The Canadian pair jumped double clear and stopped the clock at 41.65 over Ireland’s Conor Swail and Nadal Hero & DB (41.77).
Daniel Klotz-Dedora
From June 15-17, 2022, Daniel Klotz-Dedora of Cochrane, AB, finished in first place in the Individual CVIJ 2* in Loveland, Colorado. Performing with Zorro, a nine-year-old Canadian Sport Horse owned by Jeanine van der Sluijs and Angelique Vick, Klotz-Dedora and lunger Vick, earned a final score of 7.343.
