Emilie Bussereau
Emilie Bussereau of Saint-Nicolas, QC piloted Etoile de Violaines (C Indoctro x Desir du Chateau), owned by Jean Louis Bussereau and Daniel Singer, to the first FEI win of the six-year-old Selle Français mare’s career. The pair tackled the CSI-YH1 1* competition on March 3 in Royan, FRA, with a clear round completed in 77.44 seconds.

Tiffany Foster of North Vancouver, BC, showed off her winning ways during week nine of the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL. On March 3, she and Vienna (Valentino x Lordanos), a nine-year-old Hanoverian mare owned by Andy and Carlene Ziegler’s Artisan Farms LLC, topped the two-phase CSI 5* $1,000 Bainbridge 1.40m competition. Two clear rounds and a lightning-fast jump-off time of 28.43 seconds was just enough to surpass Americans Peter Lutz and Chicago Hof Eversem Z, who only just missed the mark with a jump-off time of 28.92 seconds.
Foster also won the $73,000 CSI 5* CaptiveOne 1.50m Classic on March 8 with her long-time partner, Brighton. A starting field of 44 entries contested the first-round track set by Ireland’s Alan Wade, with seven combinations advancing to the jump-off. Foster and Brighton, a 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding (Contender II x Quick Star) owned by Artisan Farms LLC and Eric Lamaze’s Torrey Pines Stable, crossed the timers in 32.72 seconds to narrowly edge out fellow Olympian Beezie Madden of the USA, who finished in 32.87 seconds for second place aboard Breitling LS.
Linda Houweling
Linda Houweling of Delta, BC, and her 12-year-old Oldenburg mare, Zaouira (Blue Hors Zack x Weinadel), captured their first-ever CDI level wins at the Pacific Coast CDI 3* in Temecula, CA. They first topped the CDI-Am Intermediate I class on March 7 (71.029%), followed by the next day’s CDI-Am Intermediate I Freestyle (70.408%).
Pia Fortmuller

During the 10th week of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, FL, Pia Fortmuller of Foothills, AB, secured impressive back-to-back wins in the CDI 1* division. She rode Frieda (Fürstenball x Romance), the nine-year-old Hanoverian mare that she co-owns with Lars Busch, to a score of 73.578% in the CDI 1* Prix St. Georges on March 13, followed by 75.147% in the CDI 1* Intermediate I on March 14.
Ava MacCoubrey
Ava MacCoubrey also found herself in the winner’s circle at AGDF 10 in the Young Riders division. The Cobourg, ON, native piloted Toni White Hanover’s Danola (Rousseau x Lanola) to 69.363% in the CDI-Y Team Competition on March 13 for her first international win with the 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare,
Kara Chad
On March 14, Kara Chad of Millarville, AB, came out on top of an enormous field of over 100 competitors in the CSI 3* Accumulator competition in Vejer de la Frontera, ESP. She and Firefly W (Nabab de Reve x Voltaire), Matthew Sampson’s 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood, racked up 65 points in 46.22 seconds for the win, less than half a second ahead of Jason Foley and Castlefield Cass of Ireland, who also scored 65 points with a time of 46.83 seconds.
