Ontario Equestrian has provided children with the opportunity to try out riding with the Rookie Riders programme running in the Play Zone throughout the fair. Llamas were one of the many four-legged friends that attendees could interact with in the Animal Encounters area.

Family day fun was had by all that came down to the Enercare Centre on Sunday.

Kristjan Good of Campbellville, ON and Carano (Cabardino x Rio Grande), an 8-year-old grey gelding owned by Alexandra Maletta won the $15,000 Braeburn Farms Hunter Derby during family day at The Royal Horse Show’s Sunday lineup.

Lauren Esdale of Seagrave, ON and Hilco (Singapore x Lupicor) a ten-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Pauline Esdale won the $10,000 1.4m Royal Final to finish Reserve Champion in the division.

NAYC team gold medalist Mathilde Candele of Orangeville, ON and her own 14-year-old Selle Francais gelding Ulior de Hombourg, took 1st place in both the $2,500 Royal Pony Jumper Optimum Time class as well as the $5,000 Pony Jumper Final.

Muffie Gutherie of Guelph, ON with her 12-year-old Warmblood gelding Round Midnight and Sarah Barker, of Branchton, ON and her eight-year-old Holsteiner gelding Cheers took red ribbons in the $2,000 Amateur Owner Hunter Over Fences. Shannon Walter of Campbellville, ON with her own 11-year-old Canadian Sport Horse mare Chantilly Lace won the $2,000 Junior/Amateur 3’3” Hunter Over Fences.

The RCMP musical ride made another appearance and entertained the family-filled crowd during their afternoon performance.
