Robbie W, sired by Rubin Royal, cut a striking picture in the warm-up ring with Diane Creech of Caistor Centre, ON, who co-owns the16-year-old Oldenburg gelding with Louise Leatherdale.
Canadian Olympian Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu of Saint-Bruno, QC, warmed up All In (Tango x Damiro), the 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding she co-owns with her father, Craig Fraser and husband, Marc-Andre Beaulieu, before entering the international ring for the first time after welcoming baby Theo to the family in June 2019.
In addition to her veteran partner All In, Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu showed a sneak peek of FEI dressage greatness to come riding Johanne Dubé’s seven-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, Harmonium (Jazz x Flemmingh), to back-to-back wins with 70.834% in the USEF Fourth Level Test of Choice on Sept. 26 and 71.026% in the USEF Fourth Level Test 1 on Sept. 27.
We were so focused on the handsome face of Brookhaven Dressage and Mary Brooks’ 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, Emmett Top (Negro x Kelvin), that we almost overlooked the awesome gloves of his rider, Allison Youngdale of Aurora, ON.
…but then we were right back to watching the fetching bay as he showed off his extensions with Youngdale during the CDI-Y Team Test on Sept. 27.
Sun’s out, tongue’s out – Sophie Dean-Potter, a native of Caledon, ON, and Ribot (Reno x Cor Noir), a 17-year-old Oldenburg gelding owned by Carla Bahr, showed off their game faces in the CDI-Y Team Test.
Quebec was also well-represented at Dressage at Devon by Amanda Aberman of Montreal and her 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding, Santino Tyme (Stedinger x Rouletto), who earned second in the CDI-U25 Intermediate II (64.324%) on Sept. 27.
Lindsay Kellock, a Canadian Dressage Team member residing in Wellington, FL, made headlines with personal best performances riding Sebastien in the Dressage at Devon big tour, but she also was a force to be reckoned with in the small tour with Final Cut (Federweisser x Carismo), Enterprise Farm, LLC’s 15-year-old Hanoverian gelding .
Check out that symmetry! Final Cut’s synchronized stepping earned 70.000% for third place with Lindsay Kellock in Sept. 27’s CDI 3* Prix St. Georges.
Tom Dvorak of Hillsburgh, ON, and Viva’s Salinjo W, whom Dvorak co-owns with his wife, Ellen Dvorak, shared a quiet moment to savour the 11-year-old Hanoverian gelding’s FEI debut. (p.s. Is anyone else jealous of those houses in the background that get first-row horse show views? That is some prime real estate!)
Canadian Olympian Jacqueline Brooks of Cedar Valley, ON, is well known for her mega-watt smile. Here, she is clearly in great spirits in the warm-up ring with Ashley Holzer, and Westwood 5 (Wolkenstein II x Lauries Crusador xx), a 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding owned by Stone Hill Equestrian Ltd.
Jacqueline Brooks certainly had even more to smile about after winning both the CDI 3* Grand Prix on Sept. 27 (68.239%) and Grand Prix Special (69.426%) on Sept. 28 with Westwood 5.
Diane Creech sported a ribbon of her own in the CDI 3* Grand Prix, waving to the crowd after claiming second with 67.478% aboard the 16-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding that she co-owns with Louise Leatherdale, Chrevis Christo (Chrevi’s Cavallo x Matador).
Also in the CDI 3* Grand Prix, Cecile Von Martels of Ridgetown, ON, had a “pinch me” moment during her first FEI appearance in the saddle of a new mount, the aptly-named Steeped in Luck (Mount Diamond Flag x Agherlow), a 17-year-old Irish Draught stallion owned by Keith Douglas.
Justin Ridgewell of Collingwood, ON, showed off his sartorial savvy with John Macpherson’s Well Done (Idocus x Krack C), a 16-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding.
Julie LaForge of Schomberg, ON and Dagmar Teubner’s 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare, Edy Rava (Lord Leatherdale x Negro) prepared to enter the Dixon Oval for the CDI 3* Intermediate I Freestyle on Sept. 29 – spoiler alert, they scored an impressive 71.780% for second place!

They came, they jumped, they conquered! Catherine O’Connor of Peterborough, ON, and her 13-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding, Melbourne Z (Eurocommerce Memphis x Leubus), took home the red ribbon at the CET Regional Finals for Ontario at Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave, ON. Catherine, we’ll see you at The Royal Horse Show for the CET Medal Finals!
