The weekend’s picture-perfect weather and world-class competition gave reason to smile for Equestrian Canada (EC) Director of Sport, Jon Garner, and Bromont Event Organizer, Sue Ockendon.
Canadian Olympian Colleen Loach of Dunham, QC, took in the action with her rescue Greyhound, Candy, between goes with four different horses, including FE Golden Eye (Goldfever x Contendro I), the seven-year-old Hanoverian gelding she co-owns with Amanda Bernhard and will be riding at the upcoming Lima Pan Am Games.
Retired FEI 5* Dressage and 3* Eventing Judge, Cara Whitham of Campden, ON, knows that fashion is taken seriously at eventing competitions, and dressed accordingly with a jaunty fedora, silk scarf, and smart blazer from the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games.
FEI Veterinary Delegate, Dr. Yves Rossier of Saint-Hyacinthe, QC, lent his practiced eye to horse inspections.
Canadian Olympian Jessica Phoenix of Cannington, ON, and her 17-year-old Westphalian gelding, Pavarotti (Pavarotti van de Helle x Foxiland XX), showed off their years of experience, looking cool, calm and collected in the water complex.
Dana Cooke of Mooresville, NC, and Mississipi (Cassini II x Legaat), a nine-year-old Württemberger mare owned by the FE Mississippi Syndicate LLC, had their ducks in a row for a top-10 finish in the CCI 3*-S division.

How much more Canadian spirt could you ask for than Olympian Mario Deslauriers of New York, NY, flying over this patriotic jump?
Lisa Carlsen of Okotoks, AB, gave the crowd a sneak peek of rounds to come at the Lima 2019 Pan Am Games with her 13-year-old Brandenburg mare, Parette (Passoa VDL x Barinello).
