Hey, kids! Come horse around and show your artistic side by entering the 2019 Horse Day National Drawing Contest!
The contest is open to everyone between the ages of three and 16 years old. We invite all kids to break out their pens, pencils, or paintbrushes and create a horse-related masterpiece.
Please submit all drawings through the online contest portal HERE. The contest deadline is June 14, 2019.
The Horse Day Drawing Contest offers four age categories:
- 3 to 6 years old
- 7 to 9 years old
- 10 to 12 years old
- 13 to 16 years old
Contest Rules
- The drawing must be done by hand (no digital drawings please).
- The drawing must include at least one horse and one nature component (i.e. a tree or pasture).
- Only 1 entry per person.
- Drawing must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EDT on June 14, 2019.
Judging Criteria
- The beauty: Does it inspire emotion for the judge?
- The balance and arrangement of colours: Does the overall look and colour palette appeal to the judge?
- The originality of the overall image: Is the drawing unique and does it show a high level of creativity?
- The effort: Is it clear that you proudly put time and effort into your drawing?
Prizes
The winners will take home a prize pack consisting of a grooming kit and horse treats valued at $50, while the winner of the age 13-16 category will receive free enrollment in the University of Guelph’s online Horse Behaviour and Safety Course.
