Trifecta Tales: Humble GS – A Strong Father Figure

Humble GS and Jessica Phoenix

Humble GS (Ferrari GS x Amiego GS) has made a name for himself in more ways than one. The 17-year-old Canadian-bred Trakehner is an FEI eventing horse, a national Grand Prix show jumper and a proven breeding stallion. Not only is he siring the next generation of top-level Canadian-bred eventers, hunters, jumpers, and equitation horses, he is the first stallion to compete against two of his offspring at the FEI level!

Humble GS is the product of over four decades of breeding excellence at Schickedanz Galten Farms in Markham, ON. With his outstanding temperament, enormous scope, and elastic movement, the 17-hand warmblood is a genetic dream. Having bred many in his line, Galten Farms anticipated greatness from Humble, but he has far exceeded expectations.

In addition to siring the next generation of top-level sport horses, Humble GS is also paving the way for them as a top-level competitor himself. His incredible genetics and exceptional temperament have allowed him to excel in multiple disciplines, a rare feat for any horse.

Humble has an impressive competition record, competing at the FEI CCI 4* level in eventing and 1.35-1.45M in show jumping with Olympian Jessica Phoenix. Humble is additionally schooling Prix St George dressage.

What sets Humble GS apart is his diverse and talented offspring. Many of them are successful eventing at the three and four-star FEI levels including Watson GS (Humble GS x Voltaire), Freedom GS (Humble GS x Fidertanz), Isla GS (Humble GS x Sir Chamberlain), and Obeah Dancer GS (Humble GS x Buddenbrock). Freedom GS and Isla GS are currently listed on the EC 2023 High-Performance List for eventing.

As of the end of last year, partnered with Phoenix, both Isla GS and Freedom GS have places on the 2023 Eventing National Team Program Development Squad. Freedom GS, Isla GS and Obeah Dancer GS with their current standings, have all qualified for the Pan American Games later this fall in Eventing, and Watson GS is still vying to qualify. If that happens, then all four horses will be in contention for a possible spot on the team selected to go to the games.

In keeping with their father’s versatility, Watson GS, Freedom GS, and Isla GS also excel in show jumping at the Grand Prix level . Boasting her father’s athletic ability and temperament, Cloud 9 GS aka Violet GS (Humble GS X Voltaire) is owned, trained and ridden by amateur Rebecca Graham. The pair finished up as Reserve Champions of the Jr/Am 1.30m at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in November 2022 and were named the leading 1.30M horse and rider combination in Canada for 2022.

Freedom and Isla have both also competed in FEI jumping with Isla having done CSI 2* 1.45m and Freedom CSI 2* 1.45m. Freedom competed in her first CSI4* this past winter at Live Oak International, where she finished double clear and top 10 in the 1.40m Welcome. Phoenix also rode Freedom in a 1.50m CSI4*, a first for both of them.

With his impressive record and outstanding progeny, Humble GS is a true masterclass in versatility. The handsome and well-tempered stallion has built an impressive legacy that is sure to live on through his offspring for generations to come.
