The Pan Am Gold Medal Canadian Eventing Team The Winner’s Circle – November 2023

The Canadian Eventing team of Lindsay Traisnel (Maidstone, ON), Colleen Loach (Dunham, QC), Mike Winter (Toronto, ON) and Karl Slezak (Tottenham, ON) finished on top of the podium and clinched a Paris 2024 Olympic berth on Oct. 30 at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. Sabrina Glaser 

On Nov. 1, Sabrina Glaser of Langley, BC, and Cooley Mr. Murphy (Kroongraaf x Obos Quality 004), a 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding owned by Hildegard Johnson, earned the victory in the CCI3*-L in Temecula, CA. The pair opened the competition with a score of 32.0 in the dressage phase and was the only combination to finish on their dressage score after going clear in cross-country and show jumping.

Mathieu Michot 

On Oct. 15, Mathieu Michot of Montreal, QC, earned a win in the CSIYH1* Special two-phase class in San Giovanni in Marignano, Italy. Aboard Iris de Beaufour (Diamant de Semilly x Allegreto), a five-year-old Selle Français mare owned by Eric Levallois, the pair jumped double clear and finished with times of 45.34 and 33.54 over second place Germany’s Leonie Buttel and Nibbit (41.30, 33.99).

Ryan Torkkeli The Winner’s Circle – November 2023

Ryan Torkkeli of Thunder Bay, ON, contested the FEI CDI3* Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle to Music in Le Mans, France from Oct. 20 – 21. Riding Sternenwanderer (Lord Loxley I x Ragazzo), a 16-year-old Rheinlander gelding owned by Ingetraud Bolz and Dieter Laugks, the duo posted a score of 70.935% in the Grand Prix and a 74.995% in the Grand Prix Freestyle to Music.  

Kara Chad 

On Oct. 19, Kara Chad of Calgary, AB and Igor GPH (Harley x Crawford 5), a 10-year-old Dutch warmblood gelding owned by A.J. Postma, earned a win in the CSI3* Table A event in Mill Spring, NC. The Canadian pair jumped double clear and finished with times of 75.16 in Round one and 40.43 in the jump-off over Ireland’s Richie Moloney and Ermes Di Tai (77.06 and 42.50), who finished in second place.

Dana Cooke 

Dana Cooke, originally from Merritt, BC, and Quatro (Quaterstern x Coriograph B), a nine-year-old German Sport Horse gelding owned by Kingfisher Park, earned a win in the CCI3*-S on Oct. 13 in Leesburg, VA. The duo lead off on a dressage score of 28.3, jumped clear in show jumping and finished with a 0.8 time fault in cross country to finish on a score of 29.1 in an opening field of 28 athlete and horse combinations.

Roberta Sheffield 

From Oct. 11 – 13, UK-based Roberta Sheffield and Fairuza, her 14-year-old Gelderlander mare, competed in the CPEDI3* Grade III division in Wellington Heckfield, GBR, beginning the FEI three-day event with a 69.166% in the Grand Prix Test A. On Oct 12, the duo finished with a 70.444% in the Grand Prix Test B and concluded the event with a 72.678% in the Para Grand Prix Test Freestyle.

During the CPEDI3* event in Mill Spring, NC, from Oct. 26 – 29, Sheffield won the Grand Prix Test B aboard Delilah (Dubai x Weltruhm), an 11-year-old Hanoverian mare owned by Gail Worgan, finishing with a score of 73.389%. 

Wanda Jamieson 

On Oct. 27 – 28, Wanda Jamieson of Merrickville, ON, earned wins in the CPEDI2* Grade IV division in Mill Spring, NC. Aboard her own Gerard XXII HCI (Saloio x Requero), a 12-year-old Lusitano gelding, the pair finished with scores of 63.000% in the Intermediate Test A and in the Intermediate Test B, they recorded the score 63.495%.
