Nations’ Cup Canadian Show Jumping Team

The Canadian Show Jumping Team of Erynn Ballard, Tiffany Foster, Eric Lamaze and Amy Millar led Canada over four other teams to win the $600,000 BMO Nations’ Cup on Sept. 11 at the CSIO 5* Spruce Meadows Masters’ Tournament in Calgary, AB.
Katie Kraft
With Katie Kraft’s 2nd place finish on August 19, she was ready to take the win at Thunderbird in Langley, BC on August 28 with her mount Goodwill VB (Orlando x Lys De Darmen). Coming from Leduc, AB, Kraft and the 15-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding owned by Caledonia Stables won the $15,000 CSI 3* Maui Jim Winning Round in 40.28 seconds.
Later that day, Kraft switched mounts to compete in the CSI 3* $2,500 Emily Sandhack Real Estate Classic on Caledonia Stables’ Chica Bonita 7 (Canstakko x Calypso II). The 12-year-old Hanoverian mare did not put a foot wrong over the CSI 3* course while carrying Kraft to victory in 82.55 seconds
Gareth Graves
On Aug. 27, Gareth Graves rode Mairi Chadwick’s Hvl Oxana (Orestus x Flagmount King) to victory in the CSI 3* in Langley, BC. The 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse carried Edmonton’s own Graves to a winning time of 41.13 – with fellow Canadian Katie Kraft and Chica Bonita 7 placing second with a score of 42.24.
Sam Walker
Back in Rockwood ON, Sam Walker of Nobleton, ON., and MarBill Hill Farm’s Evita (Canturano x Farmer) won the CSI 2* course at the Angelstone Tournaments on August 29. The 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare carried Walker over the finish line to stop the clock at 30.85 seconds. The experienced Canadian duo squeezed past the previous weekend’s champion, Erynn Ballard and Monty Python De L’Amitie who finished in 31.64 seconds.
Mac Cone
On August 28, Mac Cone of King City, ON, rode Zaia Di San Giovanni (Cornet Obolensky x Cassini II) to victory at the Grand Prix in Rockwood, ON. The 12-year-old Italian Sport Horse, who is owned by Chadburn Holdings Inc., carried Cone through the CSI 5* MLSJ jump-off in 36.79 to beat Rodrigo Pessoa and Quality FZ of Brazil, who stopped the clock at 37.08, to come out on top.
Tiffany Foster
Tiffany Foster, who resides in Wellington, FL., landed her first victory of Spruce Meadows on Sept. 3. Riding Brighton (Contendro II x Quick Star), a 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, owned by Artisan Farms LLC., the duo earned the win with a 40.54, beating USA’s Katherine Strauss, with a score of 41.69.
Two days later, Foster and Brighton scored their second win of the week in Calgary, topping the $75,000 1.50m ATCO Classic. In a field of 21 athletes, Foster advanced to the final jump-off and scored a time of 38.46, besting 39.10 recorded by fellow Canadian Kara Chad and Firefly W, to earn the victory.
No strangers to the winner’s circle, on Sept. 25 in Langley, B.C., Foster switched reins to Galino (Arthos R x Kennedy), a ten-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Artisan Farms LLC., to win the CSI 4*. The Canadian duo finished the course in 42.36 seconds to beat six other seasoned athletes.
Sean Jobin
On Aug. 27 in Rockwood, ON., Sean Jobin, who resides in Dunnellon, FL., rode Coquelicot Vh Heuvelland Z (Catoki x Cassini II) to victory. The nine-year-old Belgian stallion, owned by Foxridge Farms Stables, and Jobin posted a final score of 33.23, earning the win over 21 other athletes with the next closest score of 34.24 posted by Canadian teammate Sarah Johnstone and Miracle van ‘T Heike.
Mario DesLauriers
Over a month after the Tokyo Olympic Games, Mario DesLauriers and Bardolina 2 continues their strong form in the international ring.

Bromont, QC., native Mario Deslauriers won the $500,000 CSI 5* Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Spruce Meadows held on Sept. 18. A total of 19 entries attempted the track with four advancing to the jump-off. DesLauriers’ double clear effort in time of 53.06 seconds gave him the win over Australia’s Katie Laurie, who was almost a full second faster in 54.80 riding Django II. Deslauriers’ winning partner was Bardolina 2 (Clarimo x Landos), a 12-year-old Holsteiner mare he co-owns with Wishing Well Farms LLC.
Kara Chad
On Sept. 5, Kara Chad of Millarville, AB., took the victory in the CSI 3* at Spruce Meadows with Irinka Lady (Etoulon x Eldorado van de Zeshoek), an eight-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare owned by Matthew Sampson. The pair raced the clock in the jump-off without gaining any faults to finish in 52.11.
Jim Ifko
Jim Ifko, 52, rode Eventyre Farms Ltd.’s Eloise, a seven-year-old Selle Français mare to victory in front of a hometown crowd in Calgary at Spruce Meadows. It all came down to a three-horse jump-off where the Canadian duo recorded a 35.58 and no faults to beat Canadian teammates Taylor Roney, Kayenne Z, who scored 36.16 and Dylan Munro and Face to Face with a time of 37.27.
Shoshana Weiss
Calgary native Shoshana Weiss rode her and Bridgetown Beat Equestrian’s IB Boomerang, an eight-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding to victory in the CSI 3* Spruce Meadows on Sept. 3 and Sept 15. Weiss pulled out all the stops to produce a time of 40.57 and double clear performance in her first performance and a time of 34.00 with zero faults in the latter.
On Sept. 11 at Spruce Meadows, Weiss switched reins to WV Verdigo (Atlantic Sparkey), an Irish Sport Horse owned by Weiss and Bridgetown Beat Equestrian, placing first. The pair jumped clear in 40.93 seconds to beat out the next closest duo Jeremy Ockey of Canada and his mount Jim-Bob-H, who managed a time of 41.64 in an nine-horse jump-off.
Carla Diewert
The Foothills, AB., native Carla Diewert and Cogito (Contender x Caretino), a Holsteiner stallion owned by Diewert, earned the win at CSI 3* Spruce Meadows on Sept. 2. The 12-year-old horse and Diewert finished the course in 66.88, outlasting Katherine Strauss of the USA, who recorded the second closest time of 69.53.
Jeremy Ockey
Calgary native Jeremy Ockey and his horse Jim-Bob H (Numero Uno x San Patrignano Corrado) earned the win in a four horse jump-off in the CSI 3* at Spruce Meadows on Sept. 2. In front of the home crowd, the eight-year-old Holsteiner gelding and Ockey had no faults and a time of 41.25. A week later on Sept. 9, the pair earned another victory with a time of 37.98 in a five horse jump-off – his Canadian teammate Susan Horn and Dominka van de Lucashoeve placed second with a of 39.61.
Samara Heinrichs Prak
On Sept. 8, Samara Heinrichs Prak of Foothills, AB., and Benjamin (Corland x Haarlem), a Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Elizabeth Zyluk, captured the win over 18 other athletes in the CSI 3* at Spruce Meadows in Calgary. With zero faults, Heinrichs Prak and Benjamin scored a time of 63.28, with fellow Canadian Jeremy Ockey and Jim-Bob H completing a time of 63.98 to earn second place.

Erynn Ballard of Tottenham, ON, earned the win on August 27 in Rockwood, ON, while riding Corner Pocket Z (Cornet Obolensky x Lux Z) in the CSI 5* MLSJ. The nine-year-old gelding Zangersheider Warmblut, owned by the Z group, carried Ballard to the victory with a time of 61.50.
On September 2, Ballard switched reins to Jack van’t Kattenheye, an 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding (Diabeau x Canadian River) owned by Lindemann Barnett Sporthorses to earn the win in CSI 5* $72,900 event in Calgary, AB. The duo raced around the jump-off course in 36.04 to impressively beat Egypt’s Nayel Nassar on Igor van de Wittemoere, who stopped the clock at 37.44 seconds, to win the $24,057 prize.
Tamie Phillips
Tamie Phillips of Foothills, AB., and her horse Ecatino (Valentino DDH x Cascavelle), a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, took home the win over 24 other athletes in the CSI 3* at Spruce Meadows. Phillips and Ecatino posted a time of 60.44 with fellow Canadian Brian Morton and Chili Pepper SM scoring the next closest time with 61.93. On Sept. 16, the pair competed in a three-horse jump-off in Calgary, scoring zero faults and the best time of 42.70 over USA’s Camilla Siekmann and Ecolano vs Romano’s score of 44.95.
Ellicia Edgar
On Sept. 10, Ellicia Edgar of Parkland Country, AB., and her horse Igor K (Cardento 933 x Gran Corrado), an eight-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, earned top honours in the CSI 3* at Spruce Meadows in Calgary. Edgar and Igor K raced around the course with a time of 41.79, outscoring fellow Canadian Carla Diewert and Cogito’s time of 43.08.
Brian Morton
On Sept. 12, Brian Morton and the 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding Chili Pepper SM (Calido x Graf Top), owned by Spruce Meadows LTD., earned the victory in Calgary in a seven-horse jump-off. The hometown native, recorded zero faults with a time of 39.58, with his fellow Canadian Susan Horn and Dominka van de Lucashoeve placing in second with a score of 43.72.
Brian Walker
Brian Walker, who resides from Wellington, FL., and Cleopatra (Quick Star x Calato), a 11-year-old Holsteiner mare owned by Jake Hunter and Waldman Horses, raced around the course in the CSI 2* in Kronenberg, NED., to capture the win on Sept. 9. The Canadian duo scored a time of 56.97 over USA’s Schaefer Raposa and Haranta, who posted a time of 57.73.
Brooke Greening
On Sept. 14, the native of Spruce Grove, AB., Brooke Greening and her Belgian Warmblood mare Federale du Houssoit (Breemeersen Adorado x Lord Z) raced around the CSI 3* course in Spruce Meadows to earn the win. The duo recorded a time of 66.69 over her fellow Canadian Dylan Munro and Face to Face, who was next closet pair with a time of 67.31.
Lynn Macyk
Competing in her hometown province of Alberta, Lynn Macyk and her very own eight-year-old Irish Sport Horse mare Be Aware (by Pacino) won the CSI 3* at Spruce Meadows. On Sept. 14, the duo from Edmonton, AB., topped a leaderboard of 18 athletes with a time of 72.51.
Laura Jane Tidball
One province over from her hometown, Laura Jane Tidball and Diamond Valley Ranch LTD.,’s seven-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare Juno (Zaprilia M x Democrat) won her CSI 3* at Spruce Meadows in Calgary on Sept. 16. The Canadian duo from Langley BC., raced around the course for a time of 40.21 over fellow Canadian Tamie Phillips and Pico, who posted a time of 74.63.
Dylan Munro
On Sept. 17, the native of Okotoks, AB., Dylan Munro and Jonathan Asselin’s Face to Face (For Pleasure), an eight-year-old Hanoverian gelding captured the victory in a five horse jump-off. The Canadian duo posted zero faults and a time of 47.53, besting USA’s Samia Staehle and Uppsala de Beaufour’s second place finish of 48.05.
Shauna Cook
Competing in her hometown province, Shauna Cook and Balounito (by Balous Bellini), a 10-year-old Westphalian stallion owned by Cook and Samantha Wishewan, claimed the win at the CSI 3* at Spruce Meadows on Sept 18. The duo from Sherwood Park, AB., raced to zero faults and a time of 43.07 in an eight-horse jump-off.
Ben Asselin

In front of a hometown crowd, Ben Asselin and The Freshman (Namelus R x Chin Chin), an 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Spruce Meadows Ltd. and Margaret Southern, emerged victorious in the CSI 3* at Spruce Meadows on Sept. 19. The Canadian duo posted zero faults and a time of 41.92 in a jump-off over Australia’s Rowan Willis and Wellington Grey Goose, who completed a score of 42.50.
Lindsay Colwell
On Sept. 18, Lindsay Colwell and Waitangi Netflix, a nine-year-old Holsteiner gelding, who she co-owns with Michael House, earned the victory in the CCI 2* in Christchurch, NZ. The Canadian pair posted a score of 28.6 over New Zealand’s Anna Bryant and Sioda’s score of 33.0.
Carlie Fairty
On Sept. 26, Carlie Fairty and her 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding Kanselier v/d Donkhoeve (Vagabond de la Pomme x Malito de Reves) came out victorious in the CSI 2* in Caledon, ON. The native of Markham, ON., recorded zero faults and a time of 35.85 – next closest combination was USA’s Emma Marlowe and Stylehaul, with a time of 38.42.
Alicia Gadban-Lewis
On Sept. 23, Alicia Gadban-Lewis and her own Beneficial (by Banderas), the nine-year-old Oldenburg mare won the $8,700 CSI 4* in 68.99 in Langley, BC. Gadban-Lewis of Delta, BC, brought the heat in her home province to make it to the winner’s circle over 16 horse and athlete combinations.
Nyah Chernoff
Also in Langley BC on Sept. 23, Nyah Chernoff and Casuality Z (Cassini II x Chellano), a 14-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding owned by Stump Like Ranch & Cattle Co., reached the winner’s circle, topping the list in the CSI U25 event. The Canadian pair raced to a time of 62.95, with fellow Canadian Kassidy Keith and Havana placing second with a score of 63.01
Stella Chernoff
On Sept. 25, Stella Chernoff and Fay (Willow x Silverstone), an 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare owned by Stump Lake Ranch & Cattle Co., raced around the course CSI U25 in Langley, BC., to a time of 35.89, besting the next closest pair Kassidy Keith and Havana, who posted 37.09.
Kassidy Keith
On Sept. 26, Kassidy Keith and her nine-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare Havana (Cardento x Judgement) captured the win in the CSI U25 in Langley, BC., with a time of 34.13 with the closest next pair being fellow Canadian Reid Pankewicz and Barack, scoring 36.88.
