Tiffany Foster of North Vancouver, BC, got her week at the CSI 3* Kentucky Spring Classic Horse Show in Lexington, KY, off to a strong start with a win in the $37,000 1.45m class held on May 19. Riding Brighton, a 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding (Contender II x Quick Star) owned by Artisan Farms LLC, Foster topped a 38-horse starting field. The pair’s time of 59.61 seconds in the one-round speed class gave them the win over Simon McCarthy of Ireland, who stopped the clock in 59.98 seconds riding Gotcha

Erynn Ballard

Erynn Ballard of Tottenham, ON, made herself comfortable in the winner’s circle at the 2021 Tryon Spring 4 CSI 2* in Mill Spring, NC. On May 26, she tackled the $6,000 FEI Power/Speed 1.40m with Really Electra Xango, Ilan Ferder’s nine-year-old Brazilian Sport Horse mare. The duo stopped the jump-off timers in 22.78 seconds to edge out David O’Brien and El Balou OLD of Ireland, who completed their round in 23.368 seconds.

Erynn switched to the saddle of Ilan’s Classic Penny for May 27’s $37,000 FEI Horseware Ireland Welcome Stake, in which she and the nine-year-old Norwegian Warmblood mare flew through the finish line in 30.24 seconds. Ashlee Bond and Lazy of Israel couldn’t quite catch the pair, clocking a second-place time of 31.91 seconds. The next day, Erynn cinched her three-peat back aboard Really Electra Xango in the $6,000 FEI Speed Stakes 1.45m, navigating the one-round competition clear in 56.66 seconds.

At the Tryon Spring 5 on June 2, Erynn rode yet another impressive mare owned by Ilan to victory. The 10-year-old Selle Français, Bettina des Celtes (Coca Z x Cumano), didn’t put a foot wrong in the CSI 3* $37,000 FEI Power/Speed 1.45m. With a jump-off time of 24.37 seconds, Erynn and Bettina des Celtes were able to hold off Ashlee and Boheme de Fleyres, who had a time of 25.88 seconds.

Eric Lamaze

On June 2, Eric Lamaze found himself far from his residence in Wellington, FL, competing in the MAG Prize CSIO 5* on the grassy Piazza di Siena in Rome, ITA. He and Chacco Kid (Chacco Blue x Come On), the trusty 15-year-old Oldenburg gelding owned by the Chacco Kid Group, were the only combination out of over 60 entries to stop the timers before the minute mark, clocking in at a lighting-fast 58.79 seconds.

Eric returned to the ring for the Longines Global Champions Tour in Valkenswaard, NED. On June 5, he and Fine Lady 5 (Forsyth FRH x Drosselklang II), an 18-year-old Hanoverian mare owned by Artisan Farms LLC and Torrey Pines Stable, raced against the clock in the CSI5* 1.55m to take home the win in 63.81 seconds. That same day, Eric entered Egelund’s Miss Unique (Numero Uno x Cajus), a nine-year-old Danish Warmblood mare owned by the Rein Family LLC and Torrey Pines Stable, in the CSI 2* Open 1.4m. The new partnership recorded their first-ever win together, clearing the jump-off in 45.58 seconds and besting France’s Arthur le Vot and Celine H and their time of 46.82 seconds.
