Equestrian Canada (EC)’s volunteers are a key part of our national sport organization. Their contributions help us engage a more diverse range of skills, experience, and knowledge. Each April, we have the opportunity to add to the team of individuals passionate and knowledgeable about horses, equestrian sport and industry.
2022 Call for EC Operational Committee Volunteers
We are looking for over 30 applicants interested in volunteering on one of the EC’s operational committees that will have vacancies starting in April 2022. The work of our committees informs the development and delivery of activities, projects or services by bringing in new opinions, ideas or approaches. They help EC adapt, stay relevant and responsive to community needs as well as to identify opportunities to improve.
As a volunteer, you can give back to something you are passionate about. Your engagement can open up opportunities for you, and allow you to meet new people and share experiences with others. You can make an impact on the lives of horses, equestrians, and unquestionably yourself.

About EC Operational Committees
EC operational committees provide strategic guidance and counsel to develop specified areas of interest as they relate to EC’s vision, mission and core values. They work in close collaboration with each other and management to deliver EC’s mandates. Committee members are appointed by the CEO based on recommendations from the relevant operational committee.
Appointment consideration without limitation is given to diversity, national/international knowledge and experience in the equestrian industry, required skills, as well as gender, regional, technical and linguistic balance.
Specific responsibilities of the committees include:
- Monitoring and analyzing of key issues that affect the industry
- Bringing creative and innovative ideas to discussions and projects
- Providing input and feedback to management concerning policies, programs, rules, regulations and/or services
- Engaging with collaboration, effective communication and critical thinking
- Acting with professionalism and integrity as a member of a team
- Nominating representatives to various EC committees as required
In addition to possessing the relevant skills sought by the committee, the following are requirements for the fulfillment of the volunteer role:
- Commit to attending monthly/bi-monthly committee calls and completing projects and deliverables
- Completion of required Safe Sport orientation and training
- Technological literacy and the ability to use, understand and access various online platforms for information access, communication and collaboration
- Agreement to abide by committee terms of reference and code of conduct

To apply, please submit a resume and letter of interest highlighting relevant competencies to the EC team member assigned to the committee of your interest as indicated in the chart below. Please include your EC Sport Licence number in the application.
The application deadline for all vacancies is March 1, 2022. Terms begin April 1, 2022.
