Jill Irving of Moncton, NB kicked off the first week of competition at the renowned Adequan Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) on a high note after winning the CDI 3* Grand Prix Special on Jan. 12 aboard Arthur (Jazz x Contango), a 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Windhaven Farm. The pair also took second in the Grand Prix on Jan. 11. During Week 3, they returned to take third in the CDI 3* Grand Prix, earning 69.783% -their top score so far this season.

Week 2 of the AGDF featured CPEDI 3* para-dressage competition, representing the first outing of the year for the Canadian para-dressage team. Winona Hartvikson of Langley, BC and the 12-year-old Andalusian gelding she co-owns with Jane MacDonald, Ultimo (Invasor III x Teodoro) – who were Canada’s highest-finishing pair at the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games – took on the Grade I division, with their highlight coming in the Freestyle on Jan. 20, where they placed fifth on 67.778%.

After winning every FEI class they entered in 2018 at the small tour level, six-time Canadian Olympian, Christilot Boylen of Loretto, ON and Rockylane (Rock Forever x Rombach), her 12-year-old Westphalian mare, have ramped up for 2019, taking second place in the CDI 2* Grand Prix during Week 2.

Denielle Gallagher, a Lakeside, NB native currently living in Loxahatchee, FL is also calling AGDF home this winter season with her small tour partner, Santa Luisa, an 11-year-old Oldenburg mare sired by Stedinger.

Naima Moreira Laliberté of Outremont, QC has stepped up from the Under 25 (U25) to the small tour level in 2019 with I Do Kiss (French Kiss x Donnerfly), a 13-year-old Swedish Warmblood stallion owned by KML Sàrl. In their first outing of the year at AGDF 1, they earned second place finishes in both the CDI 1* Prix St. Georges and Intermediate I.

After winning the CDI 1* Intermediate I Freestyle at AGDF 1, Ariana Chia of Winnipeg, MB and her nine-year-old Oldenburg gelding, Fiderflame (Fidertanz x Abanos), stepped up to the 3* level at AGDF 3, earning top-four finishes in both the Prix St. Georges and Intermediate I Freestyle.
