How would you like to be paid to spend the day watching horses and interacting with riders? Interested in travelling around the region and meeting new people? Do you have a passion for fair play and safety in equestrian sport? Then consider becoming a steward.

Stewards ensure that competitions are running within the rules, and that riders are meeting correct standards for safety. It’s an essential role and we’re looking for more people to become accredited. Stewards serve a vital role at competitions of all levels, and the Maritimes are beginning to experience a shortage. With the recent retirement of one of our more active stewards, competitions in the area may need to start bringing in stewards from Ontario.

While there are a couple of individuals like Shanna Melanson (pictured) on track to become certified, we desperately need more. If you think stewarding could be a good sideline for you, contact the NBEA for more information and support in your journey.
