Not only is Carol a tireless champion for youth and ponies, but she has also been a wonderful dressage ambassador as she travelled to various shows across Canada encouraging pony owners and youth to give dressage a try. During the 2019 season, Carol and her daughter, Claire Jansen, brought their beautiful NDPC display tent to both the Ottawa Dressage Festival in Ottawa, ON, and the BC Dressage Championships in Vancouver, BC. Both competitions greatly appreciated their participation in and dedication to promoting pony dressage.
Carol published photos from both these competitions on NDPC’s social media platforms and, in so doing, helped bolster awareness of Canadian dressage activities. At the Ottawa Dressage Festival, in addition to promoting ponies and youth dressage, she kindly offered to sell raffle tickets and collect donations in support of EC’s Dressage Youth Development Fund.
EC thanks Carol for her dedication and volunteer efforts in service of youth and ponies, and for helping to promote dressage competitions nationwide.
If you know of a volunteer who deserves recognition, nominations are quick and easy through the EC website. Nominations for the award are accepted until the 20th day of each month, making December 20th the next deadline to submit the name of a volunteer who has made a difference to the sport of dressage. Questions and comments on the Dressage Volunteer of the Month Award can be directed to Christine Peters at cpeters@equestrian.ca.
