Jones is a Board member and Treasurer for the Quinte-St. Lawrence Branch of CADORA (QSLB). She is extremely organized, and always comes through to help both physically and mentally whenever called upon. Jones also single-handedly ran QSLB’s fundraising promotion, the “Hunks and Horses Calendar”, in partnership with local horse rescue and rehabilitation agencies. This was a daunting task to assemble, and included the set-up of models, horses and photographers for 12 separate months, plus a cover.
Furthermore, Jones scarified her own competition goals to volunteer as the QSLB Show Secretary for five years. Her smooth running of competitions meant that Jones left big shoes to fill when she recently decided to start showing her own horse again. Even now that she is back in the ring, Jones remains willing to help in any way at QSLB competitions.
It is the dedicated and reliable support of volunteers like Jones that ensure our sport keeps moving forward in a positive direction. Many thanks are due to Jones for the strength and efforts she has volunteered to Canadian dressage.
If you know of a volunteer who deserves recognition, nominations are quick and easy through the EC website. Nominations for the award are accepted until the 20th day of each month, making November 20 the next deadline to submit the name of a volunteer who has made a difference to the sport of dressage. Questions and comments on the Dressage Volunteer of the Month Award can be directed to Christine Peters at cpeters@equestrian.ca.
