Wishing several key members of the officiating community all the best as they retire, passing on the torch to the new generation, who will carry on their legacy with passion and dedication.
Officials play an integral role in equestrian sport, tirelessly working to uphold its integrity while safeguarding the welfare of both horse and rider. Equestrian Canada (EC) would like to extend its heartfelt appreciation to three remarkable individuals who have dedicated nearly a century of combined experience to the betterment of our community.
With a wealth of knowledge and training between them, Cathy Harper, Pamela Law, and Doug Orr have exemplified the true essence of fairness, consistency, and dedication throughout their officiating careers. Their contributions have left a lasting mark on our sport, with their legacy not only measured in years served, but in the countless lives touched and the impeccable standards they set.

After four decades of judging, Harper, a FEI Level 3 Jumper Judge and Canadian national Senior Jumper Judge retired at the end of the 2023 season. Read her retirement announcement here: https://horsesport.com/magazine/profiles/turning-last-judges-card/

Law has been a respected EC Senior hunter, jumper and hunt seat judge for many years, often found in the judge’s booth at local and national competitions. She was also the former chair of EC’s Jumping Committee and won Jump Canada’s Volunteer of the Year for her tireless dedication to the sport.
Doug Orr of Lethbridge AB

Please join us in recognizing all they have given to equestrian sport in Canada as well as our best wishes for the time they now have to enjoy doing activities NOT on the show grounds (unless it’s on the sidelines)!
