If you are entered in a competition that holds both EC and USEF sanctioning, there are additional requirements for EC Sport Licence holders based on the revised USEF/EC Reciprocal Agreement.
To determine if a competition holds USEF sanctioning, please refer to the event’s prize list.
Option 1 – No USEF Points
Canadian EC Sport Licence holders who plan to compete at a dual sanctioned event but will NOT be collecting points/awards with USEF are required to obtain a zero cost USEF Competing Membership. Please completed the following steps, regardless of class/division specifications:
- Log onto the USEF website ( https://www.usef.org/ ) and create an account. If you have previously created one, log in with your USEF credentials.
- Obtain a Competing Membership for $0. Be sure to select the option of competing using the EC Reciprocal Agreement – you will be required to provide your active 2024 EC sport licence number.
- Complete the USEF Safe Sport Training by following the prompts while processing your membership. (Applicable only for 18 years or older)
Option 2 – Collecting USEF Points
Canadian EC Sport Licence holders who plan to compete at a dual sanctioned event who WILL be collecting points/awards with USEF are required to hold a regular USEF membership and horse registrations in alignment with USEF rules and regulations. Please follow these steps:
- Log onto the USEF website ( https://www.usef.org/ ) and create an account. If you have previously created one, log in with your USEF credentials.
- Purchase a USEF membership/horse registration at full cost in addition to your 2024 EC Sport Licence and EC Horse Recording.

Should you have further questions or need further explanation, please reach out to USEF directly via email at Memberservices@usef.org or by phone at (859) 810-8733 (USEF).
Please Note: 2024 USEF Safe Sport Training MUST be completed prior to competition. You are encouraged to complete the training prior to submitting your entries to ease the burden on competition staff and ensure no issues arise prior to competition.
