The 22nd edition of The Event at Rebecca Farm was held from July 19 – 23, providing athletes a world class eventing experience in Kalispell, Montana. Canadians held their own against a field of strong competition.

In the CCI 4*-L, Jessica Phoenix of Cannington, ON, and Fluorescent Adolescent (Gaudi x Ali Baba), a 15-year-old Canadian Sport Horse owned by Makayla Rydzik placed third amongst 14 athlete and horse combinations that competed in the three-day event. The pair finished with a score of 35.7 in the dressage phase for sixth place, completed the cross-country course with a 39.3 to move up two spots to fourth place. On the final day, the duo had eight faults and finished on a score of 47.3.

In other results in the CCI4*-L, Kyle Carter of Sparr, FL, finished in fifth place aboard Gstar Van De Klinkenberg (Fuerst Romancier x Zarino), a 12-year-old Dutch warmblood gelding owned by The Barnstaple Group. The pair finished with a score of 35.4 in dressage, 53.4 in the cross country phase and had four faults and a final score of 57.4.

Madeline Scott of Chase, BC, finished in sixth place behind Carter, aboard her own Crosby’s Gold, a 14-year-old Thoroughbred gelding. The duo scored 44.8 in dressage, 78.4 in cross country and finished with four faults in show jumping for a final score of 84.0.

The Canadian Eventing team will be training at the 2015 Pan American Games cross-country phase location Will O’ Wind Farm in Toronto, ON, this week, ahead of FEI Eventing Nations Cup™ Canada at Bromont CCI from August 11 – 12.

Mathilde Blais Tétreault of Montreal, QC, and Fedor (Johnson TN x Negro), a 13-year-old Dutch warmblood gelding owned by Laurence Blais Tetreault finished in first in the Grand Prix Special with a score of 68.745%.

Camille Carier-Bergeron of Laval, QC, and Sound of Silence 4 (San Amour I x Dunkelbraun), a 15-year-old Westphalian gelding owned by Gilles Bergeron, finished in second place in the Grand Prix Special with a score of 68.149%.

Rakeya Moussa of Edmonton, AB, and Davidoff V.H. Trichelhof (Lord Leatherdale x Wall Street), a 15-year-old Dutch warmblood owned by Susan & Mohammed Moussa finished in first place in the Grand Prix Freestyle to Music with a score of 69.885%.

Evi Strasser of Sainte-Adèle and her own Disney Tyme (Diamond Hit x Weltmeyer), a 15-year-old Oldenburg gelding finished in second place in the Grand Prix Freestyle to Music with a score of 69.800%.

CDI1*

In the Prix St-Georges, Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu of Saint-Bruno, QC, and Jaccardo won with a score of 73.039%. Following the Olympian to round out the top five was Shannon Dueck of Langley, BC, and Angelika MW (69.951%), Beatrice Boucher of Saint-Dominique, QC, and Summerwood’s Limei (68.872%), Vanessa Creech-Terauds of Caistor Centre, ON, and Daniel L (68.481%) and Lori Bell of Beaverton, ON, and Flirt (68.284%).

In the Intermediate I, Fraser-Beaulieu and Jaccardo earned the win with a score of 74.559%, Dueck and Angelika MW was in second place with a score of 71.862%, Abbey Simbrow of Uxbridge, ON, and Estor finished in third place (70.735%). Creech-Terauds took home fourth and fifth place with Daniel L (68.235%) and Duchess L (68.186%) and Brooke Mancusi and Kalisto Sollenburg (68.137%) finished in sixth place.

The top four of the Intermediate I Freestyle to Music was Bell and Flirt (72.792%), Simone Williams of Navan, ON, and Herdeiro Santana (70.817%), Nancy Maclachlan of Terra Cotta, ON, and Dreo (70.642%) and Jacqueline Brooks of Cedar Valley, ON, and Quel Filou (69.050%).

In the YH 6 Preliminary Test for six-year-old horses, Belinda Trussell of Stouffville, ON, and Quincy scored 82.600% and a day later in the test for six-year-old horses final, Trussel scored 79.800%.
