The Eventing High Performance Advisory Group (HPAG) is pleased to announce the Campbell Valley Equestrian Society (CVES) has been selected as the recipient of funding through the Eventing Venue Development Fund.
Following a thorough review process, the HPAG committee awarded CVES the full available grant of $5,579.00. The proposal was recognized for its clarity, practicality, and strong alignment with key priorities identified by the committee, particularly the importance of a high-quality footing to support horse welfare and the growth of competitions including future FEI events.
The funding will support CVES’s arena renovation project at Campbell Valley Regional Park in British Columbia, specifically the transition from hog fuel footing to a modern, all-weather sand surface. This improvement is expected to significantly enhance the venue’s safety, reliability, and accessibility for a wide range of users.
“The committee was impressed by the strength of the Campbell Valley application and its potential to deliver immediate and meaningful impact across all levels of the sport,” said Dr. Emily Gilbert, Chair of the Eventing High Performance Advisory Group. “Investments in footing quality are critical to the long-term development of the sport, and this project represents an effective and community-focused use of available funding.”
Campbell Valley Equestrian Society plays a vital role in the eventing community, offering competitions, schooling opportunities, and accessible facilities for riders ranging from grassroots participants to high-performance athletes. The upgraded arena will support continued growth at the venue while enabling more consistent training and competition conditions.

“We are very grateful to EC and the Canadian Eventing HPAG for their support of the community riding ring at Campbell Valley Regional Park,” said Carol McDonald, President of Campbell Valley Equestrian Society. “Replacing the hog fuel footing with sand means that we can provide a safe and accessible arena for hundreds of riders across BC to enjoy for pleasure and for grassroots to high-performance competition!”
