Toronto, ON, November 9 2025 – It was a weekend of firsts for Calgary, AB’s Kyle Timm. Not only did he make his first visit to Ontario to make his first appearance competing at Toronto’s Royal Horse Show; he earned the Canadian Championship by finishing first in Saturday night’s decisive second and third rounds of the $125,000 Henry Equestrian Canadian Show Jumping Championship, held as part of the 103rd Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.
Following Friday night’s speed class, Timm was firmly in the mix, placing sixth with the Rein Family’s Atomica des Sequoias Z. Two clean and fast rounds Saturday night over German course designer Olaf Petersen Jr.’s tracks gave them the winning edge and the coveted title of Canadian Champion.
Timm who is based in France but grew up riding and competing in western Canada, appreciated the support of the sold-out crowd in the Coca-Cola Coliseum Saturday night. It also happened to be the first time Timm has competed Atomica at an indoor show.

“I’ve jumped a lot of big shows in Europe, but you’re never the ‘hometown hero’ there,” remarked Timm. “The public was fantastic tonight! This show has a really special ambiance. Hearing them cheering at the end was really something. This might only happen once in someone’s life – I’m really happy it happened to me tonight!”
Just tenths of a second behind in the final round, Aurora, ON’s Nicole Walker and her own Panter JVH earned the Reserve Championship title. Having won Friday night’s opening round, 2024 defending Champion Amy Millar of Perth, ON, finished third riding Team Eye Candy and Millar Brooke Farm’s Jagger HX.
Atomica and Timm have been partnered together for the last three years and have thus-far represented Canada at the 3* and 4* levels. The Rein Family, long-time supporters of show jumping in Canada and owners of Atomica, can now pride themselves on having both the Canadian and French national Champions in their ‘stable’. Both Timm and French rider Nina Mallevaey will be competing in the CSI5*-W international division here next week.

The Royal Horse Show’s Opening Weekend also included two thrilling nights of competition in the Mad Barn Indoor Eventing Challenge. A hybrid blend of natural cross-country obstacles and show jumping saw Port-Perry, Ontario’s Waylon Roberts take the overall title for an incredible ninth time! He rode Dr. Penny Rowland’s Lakeside Park to the win this year over the course which was designed by Great Britain’s Captain Mark Phillips.
Come meet & greet Canadian Equestrian Team riders at the Mad Barn Booth during the Royal! We welcomed the Eventers Saturday, November 8, including very special guest world number-one ranked Harry Meade (GBR). Tuesday, November 11 features our Dressage and Para Dressage riders from 4:30-5:00pm and Thursday, November 13 will be the Show Jumpers again from 4:30-5:00pm.
