
Ottawa, ON, April 15, 2026 — Equestrian Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Gisborn as Youth Technical Advisor – Jumping.
A fourth-generation horseman, Peter grew up on his family’s Shady Hill Farm and has been immersed in the sport from a young age. He has enjoyed success across the hunter, equitation, and jumper disciplines, competing at the highest levels of the sport, including the World Cup level. Career highlights include being named OHJA Jumper Coach of the Year on two occasions, earning the title of Eastern Canadian Hunter Derby Champion in 2011 and OE Coach of the year in 2025.
Peter holds High Performance 1 Coach – Jumping certification and brings experience in athlete development, technical leadership, and championship preparation.
The Youth Technical Advisor – Jumping is responsible for assisting and supporting the EC Jumping Department in the delivery of the Talent ID programming. This includes preparations for Youth Championships as well as Youth Nations Cup competitions, while emphasizing the experience and pride when representing Canada on the international stage.

Talent identification, support, and mentorship will be some of Gisborn’s main responsibilities, working alongside Program Coordinator – Jumping and Youth Teams, Kelsey McDonell; and EC Manager of Sport – Jumping, Karen Hendry-Ouellette. Gisborn will work closely with young riders, trainers, parents, and owners in order to facilitate the development of competitive teams and individuals for FEI competition.
