Ottawa, ON, February 23, 2026– Equestrian Canada (EC) is pleased to announce that nominations are officially open for the 2026 EC Board of Directors.
EC is looking for dedicated individuals with diverse experiences, and the dynamic and relevant skills to take on a leadership role in the organization. Directors will have the opportunity to help EC effectively deliver on its mandate to represent, promote, and advance equestrian sport and all related equine and equestrian interests in Canada.
EC Directors will also have the chance to work collaboratively toward the continued growth and development of the organization, while strengthening partnerships within Canada and abroad.
Prospective candidates interested in serving on the EC Board of Directors are encouraged to download the following package for full application eligibility information, instructions, and timelines. The deadline for nominations is March 27, 2026, at 4 p.m. ET.
2026 Equestrian Canada Board of Director Election: Key Information:
Vacancies
In 2026, there are three (3) vacancies and there will be three (3) Directors elected.
Per Bylaw 4.2: Directors to be Elected
Subject to any increase or decrease by the Board within the minimum and maximum as set out in the Articles, the number of Directors to be elected at an annual meeting shall be the number of Directors whose terms expire in the same year as the election.
Three (3) positions will be for a three (3) year term ending in 2029.
Term Limits: Per Bylaw Article 4.9
Directors shall be eligible for re-election, but no Director may serve for more than three (3) consecutive three-year terms. Fulfilling an incomplete term is not considered part of the term limit. Directors shall serve staggered terms to balance continuity with new perspective.

Important Dates
The timeline for the 2026 Director Applications is as follows:
- February 23, 2026 – Call for Nominations opens
- March 27, 2026 – Call for Nominations closes at 4 p.m. ET
- April 20 to 23, 2026 – Interviews for selected candidates via video conference
- April 27, 2026 – Final Candidates on the ballot announced
- April 29, 2026 – Video recorded interviews for shortlisted candidates
- May 26, 2026 – Voting and election results announced at EC AGM
- May 27, 2026 – Election results announced to the equestrian community
About the EC Nominating Committee
The EC Nominating Committee is responsible for:
- Presenting a slate of candidates for the position of EC Board Directors in accordance with EC’s Bylaws
- Ensuring there is an election each year
- Ensuring EC has a rigorous nomination system
- Recruiting qualified individuals to stand for election as Directors
