Canadian Equestrian Community Urged to Contact Government Representatives for Emergency Support

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, equine farms and equestrian facilities across Canada are facing unprecedented financial instability. Since all public-facing activities have stopped, business owners are unable to pay for animal care as incomes have largely disappeared.

EC is working urgently with the federal government to set up an emergency relief fund to prevent this imminent threat, but we need your help to make it happen.

Thank you to the Sport Information Resource Centre and inMotion for the creation of this video.

How can you help save Canada’s horses?

  1. Contact your Member of Parliament (MP) and tell them the equine industry needs their help! Write a letter, send an email or call their office and tell them about your farm or a local business that has been impacted. Tell them the need is urgent and that you want to hear back from them on how they will help!

  2. Send a message on social media and tag your MP to bring your message to their attention. Don’t forget to include a picture if you can and include the hashtag #SaveCanadasHorses.
  3. Spread the word! Tell your friends and fellow equine supporters to do the same. The more voices we can get to pressure the government, the better our chances are to see a result!
