The Winner’s Circle – August 2023

On July 22, Sean Jobin of Toronto, ON, and Coquelicot VH Heuvelland Z (Catoki x Cassini II), an 11-year-old Belgian Zangersheide gelding owned by Foxridge Farms Stables, earned the victory in the CSI3* in Mill Spring, North Carolina. The duo jumped double clear and finished with a time of 34.22 in a field of 22 athlete and horse combinations. 

Belinda Trussell

Belinda Trussell of Stouffville, ON, earned wins in the CDIYH Preliminary and Final Tests for six-year-old horses on July 22 and 23 in Rockwood, ON. Aboard Quincy, a six-year-old Hanoverian mare owned by Susan Zucker, the two-time Olympian earned scores of 82.600% and 79.800%.

Lauren Esdale

On August 6, Lauren Esdale of Seagrave, ON, was victorious in the CSI2* one round with jump-off in Bromont, QC. Riding Viamdios D’Avril (Diamant de Semilly x Fol Avril), a 14-year-old Selle Français gelding owned by Pauline Esdale, the duo was the only pair to jump double clear and they finished with a time of 50.19.

Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu of Saint-Bruno, QC, and Jaccardo (Desperado x Jazz) a nine-year-old Dutch warmblood gelding owned by Jill Irving, captured the victory in the CDI1* in Caledon, ON. On July 21, the Tokyo Olympian guided the young horse to scores of 73.039% in the Prix St-Georges and a day later in the Intermediate I, a 74.559%.

Erin Silo

Erin Silo of Langley, BC, earned a win in front of a home crowd on July 30 in the CDI1* Intermediate I Freestyle to Music. Riding her own Jett, a nine-year-old Dutch warmblood gelding, the duo recorded a score of 71.755%.

Mac Cone

On July 28, Mac Cone of King City, ON, and Con Couleur (Conthargos x Couleur Rubin), a 12-year-old Mecklenburger gelding co-owned by Chadburn Holdings Inc., and Southern Ways, earned a win in the CSI2* in Bromont, QC. The pair jumped double clear and stopped the clock at 30.35.

Evi Strasser of Sainte-Adèle, QC, and her own Déjà vu Tyme (Dauphin x Werbellin), a 16-year-old Hanoverian gelding earned a win in the CDI3* Grand Prix on July 21 in Caledon, ON. The pair danced their way to a score of 67.935%.

Gloria Schriever

On July 29, Gloria Schriever of Langley, BC, won the CDI1* Intermediate I in front of a hometown crowd at Thunderbird Show Park. Aboard her own Hilton, sired by Totilas, an 11-year-old Portuguese Sport Horse gelding, recorded a score of 69.500%

Lindsay Seidel-Wassenaar

Lindsay Seidel-Wassenaar of Bluffton, AB, earned three wins from August 3 – 5 in Calgary, AB, in the CDI1*. Aboard her own Gaga (Contango x Jazz), a 12-year-old Dutch warmblood mare, in the Prix-St-Georges, the pair posted a score of 69.559%. A day later, they recorded a score of 70.833% in the Intermediate I and concluded the weekend with a score of 73.133% in the Intermediate I Freestyle to Music.

Cassidy Rein

Cassidy Rein originally from Toronto, ON, now living in Raleigh, NC, contested and won the CSI2* in Riesenbeck, Germany on July 21. Outlasting an opening field of 43 athlete and horse combinations, Rein and Escorial K (Chacco’s Son x Epsom Gesmeray), a 12-year-old Oldenburg mare owned by the Rein Family LLC, jumped clear and stopped the clock at 61.02.

Lori Bell

Lori Bell of Beaverton, ON, earned a victory in the CDI1* at Caledon Equestrian Park on July 23 In the Intermediate I Freestyle to Music. Bell guided Flirt (Florencio x Donnerhall), a 15-year-old Oldenburg gelding she co-owns with Denis Rodet, to a score of 72.792%.

Mathilde Blais Tetreault of Montreal, QC, and aboard Fedor (Johnson TN x Negro), a 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, owned by Laurence Blais Tetreault, secured the win in the CDI 3* Grand Prix Special in Rockwood, ON, on July 23, with a score of 68.745%.

Nikolaus Leckebusch-Peters

Nikolaus Leckebusch-Peters of Georgetown, ON, won the CSIU25 Grand Prix Table A on July 16 in Samorin, Slovakia. Riding Excentrique Z (Echo van T Spieveld x A Mouse Called Micky), an eight-year-old Zangersheide mare owned by Timur Leckebusch, the duo jumped clear and stopped the clock at 84.18.

Pia Fortmüller

Pia Fortmüller of Foothills, AB, won the CDI3* Grand Prix on July 28 in Langley, BC. Riding Frieda (Fuerstenball Old x Rouletto), a 12-year-old Hanoverian mare she co-owns with Busch, Lars & Fortmüller, the duo finished atop of the leaderboard with a score of 68.457%.

Beth Underhill of Mulmur, ON, earned a victory in the CSIYH1* on July 14 in Chantilly, France, while aboard My Clementine (David Prentice x Kashmir van Schuttershof). Underhill and the eight-year-old Irish Sport Horse mare owned by the Rein Family LLC, jumped double clear and finished with a time of 40.06.

Rakeya Moussa

Rakeya Moussa of Edmonton, ON, earned the win in the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle to Music on July 22 in Caledon, ON. Riding Davidoff V.H. Trichelhof (Lord Leatherdale x Wall Street), a 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Susan & Mohammed Moussa, the duo finished with a score of 69.885%.

Rochelle Kilberg

On July 30, Rochelle Kilberg of Surrey, BC, danced her way to victory in the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle to Music. Aboard her own Florentino (Bordeaux x Sandreo), a 13-year-old Dutch warmblood gelding Kilberg finished with a score of 70.630%.

Shelley Lawder

Shelley Lawder of Langley, BC, captured a victory in the CDI1* Prix St-Georges on July 28 in front of a hometown crowd. Riding Balancee, a nine-year-old Westphalian mare she co-owns with Molly Brewer, Lawder danced her way to a score of 71.382%.

Maya Markowski

Maya Markowski of Listowel, ON, posted multiple wins in the CDI2* classes in Caledon, ON, from July 21 – 23. Aboard Daedalus (Es de Laurentis x Es Sam Steele), an 18-year-old Hanoverian gelding owned by Gail Tittley, Markowski received a score of 65.343% in the Intermediate II. A day later, the duo danced their way to a 58.406% in the Grand Prix.
